In 2016, we set out to drive a full loop of Planet Earth in 1 year in our now famous (and still crumbling) £75 Skoda Felicia along with some friends, some strangers from the internet and a whole bunch of crap cars!
We filmed the whole journey on the assumption that we’d start a YouTube channel or something like that. On returning to the UK 1 year later and being invited to the Adventure Travel Film Festival to show off the surviving cars, we were given a VERY interesting offer:
“If you can turn all of your footage into a documentary, I’ll show it at nexts year’s Festival”
-Austin Vince, founder of the ATFF
With that in mind, the 3 of us and fellow Convoy survivor Rich, researched that it takes on average 6 months for the post-production (editing) of a professionally shot and organised film by a team of full-time editors in a fully equipped studio…
Our studio was an oversized bike-shed/shared bedroom and we only had 1 month available. We had over 29,000 files, each up to 10 minutes in length that ranged between ‘useless shakey garbage’ and ‘dude this one’s actually great!’.
So we figured, as we had many times before: “fuck it, let’s give it a go!”
28 days of sleeping on the floor and learning on the fly later, we had a documentary that was ready to see the light of day!
After some feedback - and Max actually learning how to video edit rather than just guessing what buttons do 😂- we tweaked it into the current, award-winning (we don’t know how either!) documentary that we’re proud to share with you today!
Where can you see it?
It might be available on Amazon Prime in your country (so if you already have that, you can check there first).
Otherwise, if you’d like to use it for a film show or festival, feel free to get in touch!
We hope you enjoy it and thank you for supporting us and our community ❤️
