This is really something else…

We love a good adventure at Global Convoy (and we believe you will too!) but we’re more interested in finding the right adventure for the right person, rather than simply cramming as many people in as possible in a bid to cover more costs.

This will be our biggest adventure since we drove around the world in a £75 car. We’re excited as hell but please read and understand the following before applying for this adventure.

Dates/Timings

The bus’s journey can be broken into three sections:

  1. Mayhem TEST RUN - May 2023

  2. PanAm Months 1-3 - August, September, October

  3. PanAm Months 4+ - November, December, January, February

Each of these sections can only be confirmed during the previous section: We can’t know if the PanAm is going ahead until the test run is underway and we confirm that the bus is reliable. And we can’t know if PanAm Months 4+ are going ahead until we’re in Central America (September) and start booking our ferry across the Darien Gap!

We’ll be 100% transparent and upfront with all information and as always will have tons of back up plans ready, but please don’t sign up unless you’re ok with this uncertainty.



This is not a tour!

If everything is known in advance, with minimal risk and a set itinerary you haven’t got an adventure, you’ve got a tour.
While there is nothing wrong with a good tour, please don’t mistake the two.

Global Convoy have been organising and running adventures for over 6 years now and know better than anyone that a true adventure has multiple unknown factors and elements of risk.

This is a real adventure! It’s outlandish, exciting and has plenty of unknown parts to it which make it so incredible and unique. There will be many surprises both good and bad:

  • We could be welcomed into a rural village and asked to be part of a wedding ceremony.

  • A mountain pass could close unexpectedly and we need to spend a couple of days finding a new way around.

  • We could be given an abandoned hotel to ourselves due to our group size.

  • We could have a breakdown that’s fully unrepairable and we’d need to find new transport.

  • We could be invited to a local’s home for dinner and to camp in their garden.

  • Sudden weather changes could cause our route to change.

  • …Or any number of crazy surprises could pop up!

All the above examples have already happened to us on previous adventures so don’t think these are exaggerations! A true adventure is beautifully, randomly wild and that’s the point!



Costs

We are not running this for profit, it is for fun and the adventure and we’re keen to get back on the road to run another big expedition.

We are purchasing, re-fitting and building out this bus ourselves from scratch and so there is an entry fee that will go towards the costs of setting up and running the expedition as well as your transport on the bus and all fuel costs.
You will need to pay for flights, food, accom, activities and any unforeseen circumstances and if there are any unforeseen circumstances with the bus such as breakages on route this may be added as a group cost.

£1800/month

This covers from the start to the finish of a given month and includes all items indicated below.

Included in price:

  • Living on a damn US School Bus! 😍

  • A driver and backup driver for the entire journey

  • All vehicle preparation costs

  • ALL FUEL COSTS!

  • Logistics and planning

  • Visa and document support

  • Negotiating/haggling/police encounters/etc.

  • Some special things we’ve lined up ;)


Additional Estimated Costs:

  • Food & drink

  • Accommodation*

  • Travel insurance

  • Optional extras (tourist sites, etc.)

  • Unforeseen circumstances

  • Flights/Visas

*We’ll be trying to camp as much as possible but in some circumstances staying in the bus/camping will not be possible.

 

Application process

There are only 15 available seats for each month for this adventure (you can sign-up for multiple months) and as a result we want to make sure we have the best people suited for this adventure.

We are currently gearing up for the Mayhem test run but will respond to each applicant ASAP and answer any questions asked.

If you seem like a good fit for the team based on your answers we’ll get in contact to book a pre-adventure call. This to get to know you better and answer any other questions you still have.

After the call we’ll take 50% of the payment due (to be fully returned if the trip is cancelled for any reason) which will reserve your place, and the remaining 50% of the payment can be sent any time up to 30 days before you join the adventure.
