Winter is cold anyway.
So why half-arse it?

In a nutshell:

For a couple of years now, we’ve got some friends together and headed to Estonia for a winter getaway….

And it’s been kind of fucking amazing!

In winter (or ‘off-season’ as the Estonia tourism industry calls it) almost everything we needed was a reduced price. Combine that with our local connections, Estonia’s ridiculously gorgeous nature and their homely food/drink/sauna/general culture and we started to realise we’d stumbled onto an absolute winner of a winter destination!

So we’re doing it yet again in 2023

 Why Estonia?

“Think Eastern-European prices and tight-knit community vibes crossed with Scandinavian infrastructure and technology”

The Location
Nestled away in the North-Eastern corner of Europe, Estonia’s fresh history (it’s only been a country for 100 years!!) and distance from the Western tourist hubs means it doesn’t get the crushing masses that somewhere like France would.

The Nature
Our first experience was on our original world tour where we stumbled in from Latvia to realise that not only is the country full of free camp sites maintained by their government - already a good sign - but they even provided pre-cut firewood as well as log cabins available for rent along with toilets and watchtowers you can climb to get a better view of how well they’ve taken care of their little patch of Earth! They have some stunning outdoor spots there and they take care of them fantastically.

They Know How To ‘Winter’!
Fairly self-explanatory. Their food is fresh out of a babushka’s “cookbook for enjoying winter” and their vast array of locally brewed drinks (not just vodka, thankfully) pairs well with practically every house in Estonia having a sauna!
Saunas are a social affair here, where you alternate between, sauna, snow and socialising over drinks and snacks… compared to any other sauna we’ve been in around the world - they pretty much win hands down.

Our Local Connections
Having been to Estonia a buuuunch of times now, we’ve got the hook up! Local knowledge, advice and guidance are already great but throw in some authentic accommodation and we’ve won before we’ve even got there!
(Yes, there will be saunas!)

A Bit Of Adventure
Cabin fever has hit us hard at Convoy HQ so we’ve been looking for the best (and covid-safest) way of getting a bit of action and freedom into our lives right now and we reckon our best bet is to get a squad together, head out to the middle of nature for a week, get some incredibly fresh air and just take a moment to enjoy some of winter’s beauty (rather than having the UK rain on us the whole time).

…So yeah, Estonia’s pretty breathtaking. Join us!

More Details

  • The 30th of January 2022 to the 6th of February 2022.

This is 1 week of Estonia-based Convoy adventure as we explore the capital Tallinn, head into the countryside, to the coast and then off to their islands!

    Other dates:

If we receive sufficient interest, we’ll run a second week immediately following the first - 6th Feb to 13th Feb.

  • Anyone looking to learn and explore without getting caught up in tourist traps.

Whilst anyone is welcome, this is adventure-travel and the pace, comforts and restrictions reflect that.

Our job is to get people out of their comfort zones, show them what they’re truly capable of and give them a new perspective on life - all while having a shit ton of fun in unbelievable locations making a ton of new friends for life and creating enough incredible, shared experiences to last a lifetime. Unsurprisingly, this doesn’t occur whilst having breakfast brought to you in bed in a 5 star hotel.

We encourage people from all walks of life to join. We’ve had 18 year olds fresh out of school through to over 50’s. It’s slightly clichéd, but it’s more about the age of your mindset and maturity than the age of your body.

The most important thing is that you are up for a challenge. There will be good times and there will be tough times, but as long as you’re willing to be a team player and help move the group forward, you’re a perfect fit!

Our accommodations for this trip are local Estonian places, so will have a range of sleeping situations, but expect to be sharing your sleeping area for the duration.

  • Discounts

The standard entry fee for this trip is £580.

If you put down your deposit before the 1st of January 2022, we will lower this total price to £480.

If you put down your deposit before the 1st of January 2022 and you’ve also taken part in a previous Global Convoy adventure, we will lower this price to £380.

    Other costs:

    Honestly, basically just drinks! 😅
Set aside some money for eating out now and then and in case we do an optional activity that costs money, but overall we’re probably setting aside no more than £50.
Return flights from around Europe are around £70 return but can be as low as £30 return if you’re lucky!

  • Better than usual groups, stranger than usual routes and once-in-a-lifetime experiences… People seem to like them.

We start with outlandish, exciting adventure concepts and then craft them into realistically achievable plans. We then figure a minimum amount of people required to run the adventure affordably for everyone, then start taking deposits.

If we reach the minimum required participants for a given adventure, the deposits are locked in and the trip is confirmed!

If there aren’t enough confirmed team members by the cut-off date, all deposits are returned immediately.

  • By following local laws, guidelines and ensuring that everyone on our crew is fully vaccinated.

We want to be able to take everyone but due to the global pandemic and the nature of the trip it is unlikely that we will be able to accommodate unvaccinated guests. this is because:

For liability we can not risk someone getting sick on our trip as it puts at risk the trip itself, the environments we’re travelling through and the health of other group members.

Whilst some things are beginning to re-open, we are travelling at a time when travel is not so easy so we want to make sure to be responsible during this re-opening period for many countries.

While this information may change as new details emerge, this is our current situation.

  • So you may have noticed the convoy runs a bit differently to your typical tour company 😂

We want the best adventure for everyone, that’s why we personally oversee every adventure ourselves and take the time to confirm each member of the team is joining a great trip for them.

When you’ve decided this is the right adventure for you, fill out the sign up form at the bottom of the page, you’ll then be able to reserve your spot with a £50 non-refundable deposit.

We’ll then arrange a casual chat with with you to a) get to know you a little better, b) confirm that this is the right trip for you and that you’ll gain something from it!
If we feel that actually this isn’t the right choice for you, we’ll let you know and fully refund your deposit (minus any processing fees incurred).
Don’t worry! This doesn’t mean you can’t join future Global Convoy adventures, just that we don’t think this specific trip suits you based on the information we’ve been given.

You’ll then have until January 15th to pay the remaining balance and we’ll be ready to assist you with any questions or advice you need help with.

If for any reason the trip is cancelled, you will be refunded your deposit (minus any processing fees incurred).
If for any reason you are unable or choose not take part in the trip and the trip goes ahead, you will not be refunded.

If you’re still not 100% clear, click here for a badly drawn diagram Max made that should help 😊

  • If anything isn’t 100% clear then please get in contact with us and we’ll be happy to clear things up.

You can send us a message here or reach out to us on Facebook or Instagram. 😊

WARNING:
This is a real adventure. Things can go wrong, times can be tough and as with any overlanding journey there is the possibility of being injured or worse.
These risks and the rewards that come with them are what make such unorthodox adventures so fantastic, but do not mistake it for an all-inclusive package holiday.

COVID:
Everything written above is dependant on the route remaining open and the situation at the time.
We have several backup plans in case of disruptions but if the trip is unable to go ahead, refunds will be given (minus any processing fees).
